About nunex

Nunex is a Portuguese brand of baby and children’s care products. We develop and manufacture diapers, wipes, and changing mats in Portugal, with a commitment to providing quality, safety, and comfort from the very first day.

Yes, 100%. Both the brand and the production are entirely Portuguese, from product development to the manufacturing line, everything takes place in Portugal.

All our production is carried out in Portugal, at our factory in Viana do Castelo. This allows us to ensure strict quality control in every batch, support the national economy, and also reduce the environmental impact of transportation.

Our mission is to continuously improve the lives of all mothers, fathers and babies, working hard on the development of products that ensure comfort, peace of mind and well-being, because we know that babies can feel the difference. Furthermore, we believe that the highest quality does not have to mean the highest price, which is why we aim to provide the market with a diverse range of high-quality products at a fair price. We are recognised and certified for our rigorous product quality management.

Nunex is proud to meet the highest European quality and safety standards. Our certifications include:

  • OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100: Ensures that our products are tested for harmful substances and are completely safe for direct contact with babies’ sensitive skin.

  • FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council): Certifies that the cellulose used in the core of our diapers comes from responsibly and sustainably managed forests.

  • PEFC™: Similar to FSC, this certification ensures that the forest-based raw materials we use come from controlled and sustainable sources.

  • ISO 9001: International certification of our Quality Management System, ensuring strict standards throughout all production stages in Viana do Castelo.

  • ISO 14001: Reflects our environmental commitment, certifying that our manufacturing unit manages and reduces its impact on the ecosystem.

  • Dermatologically Tested: All Nunex products undergo rigorous testing in independent laboratories to ensure maximum skin tolerance and help prevent irritation.

We understand that you may want to test the softness and absorbency of our diapers before making your choice. At the moment, we do not offer individual samples for direct shipping.

We suggest following Nunex’s social media channels and our official store myGhost, where we regularly share news, campaigns, and opportunities to discover our products up close.

Yes. In strict compliance with European Union legislation for cosmetic and hygiene products, no Nunex product is tested on animals. The safety and effectiveness of our diapers and wipes are exclusively validated through alternative scientific methods and dermatological tests on humans.

About our Products

- Diapers
The main difference between the two ranges lies in their protection focus: Dropline prioritises absorption technology for extended periods, while Nature focuses on sustainability. Nunex Dropline is our high-performance diaper. Thanks to its patented rapid absorption channel and anatomical design, it provides up to 12 hours of dry protection, making it the ideal choice for a peaceful night’s sleep and maximum moisture retention during periods of increased movement. Nunex Nature is our more ecological option. It stands out for incorporating natural-origin and biodegradable raw materials, such as PLA (derived from corn starch), which helps reduce the environmental impact associated with product disposal. It is the right choice for those who value sustainable materials and a more natural contact with the skin. Both ranges are completely free from fragrances, latex and parabens.

Yes. Our diapers are tested to provide up to 12 hours of protection. The latest-generation absorbent core locks moisture away from the baby’s skin, helping to prevent leaks and irritation during sleep.

We prioritise neutrality. Our diapers do not contain fragrances or lotions that could interfere with the skin’s natural pH or cause allergic reactions. Nunex’s focus is to maintain the skin barrier dry through breathable materials, rather than through the application of external chemical agents.

You should consider moving up to the next size if: 1) Your baby is at the upper weight limit indicated on the packaging; 2) You notice red marks on the thighs or waist; 3) Frequent leaks occur; 4) The wetness indicator is blue.
To ensure maximum comfort and prevent leaks, it is essential to choose the right size based on your baby’s weight. To make this choice easier, you can find our Ideal Size and Range Calculator on our website. Simply enter your child’s current weight and the tool will automatically indicate the corresponding size and which range (Premium Care, Dropline or Nature) best suits their needs at that moment.

Yes. All Nunex products undergo rigorous testing in independent laboratories. These tests confirm the high skin tolerance of the materials and ensure that the diapers are safe for direct contact with babies’ sensitive skin, helping to prevent the risk of allergies and irritation.

Leaks usually occur due to choosing the wrong size or an inadequate fit. If the diaper is too small, its absorption capacity will not be sufficient for the amount of liquid; if it is too large, it will not seal properly around the waist and legs.

To prevent leaks:

  1. Check that the size is suitable for your baby’s weight (using our Size Calculator).
  2. Make sure the elastic side barriers (around the leg area) are fully pulled out.
  3. If the diaper leaks frequently during the night, it may be time to move up to the next size.

The wetness indicator is a yellow line visible on the outside of the diaper that changes colour (to blue/green) when it comes into contact with urine. Its purpose is to provide a quick and visual indication that the diaper has reached its capacity and needs to be changed, avoiding the need to open the diaper and undress the baby unnecessarily.

The small beads that can sometimes be felt inside the diaper are made of Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP). Their technical function is to absorb liquid and transform it into a compact gel, keeping moisture away from the baby’s skin. They are not harmful to the baby. SAP is a non-toxic, inert and clinically safe material, and is the global standard in the baby hygiene industry. Occasionally, due to movement or when the diaper reaches its maximum absorption capacity, some gel crystals may be released and come into contact with the baby’s skin. If this happens, there is no reason for concern; simply clean the skin with a wipe or water.
- Wet Wipes

Unlike most wipes on the market, Nunex Sensitive and Nunex Nature Wet Wipes are produced 100% plastic-free and without synthetic fibres. They are made exclusively from natural-origin fibres that break down in water.

Because they are biodegradable and made from natural materials:

  • They can be flushed down the toilet: As they break down in water, they can be disposed of this way (we only recommend not flushing more than two at a time to ensure proper plumbing operation).

  • They have a lower environmental impact: They naturally decompose in a much shorter time than wipes containing plastic, which can take hundreds of years to disappear.

  • They are safer: The absence of plastics and synthetic chemicals makes them much softer and more suitable for sensitive baby skin, especially the Nature range, which is made with 99% water.

Nunex Basic Wet Wipes, on the other hand, contain plastic in their composition.

Only wipes that are labelled as biodegradable on the packaging can be flushed down the toilet, as they are made from cellulose fibres that break down in water. All other wipes should be disposed of in general waste to avoid blockages in the plumbing.

Both our Sensitive and Nature wipes are made with these natural materials and do not contain plastic, which means they can be flushed down the toilet. To ensure your home’s plumbing system works properly, we only recommend flushing no more than two wipes at a time.

Of course. Especially our Nature range (with 99% water), which is the closest alternative to using cotton pads and pure water. No complications, just gentle cleaning for playtime and changing moments.

No. None of our ranges contain alcohol or parabens. Nature is completely fragrance-free (99% water), Sensitive uses 98.5% ingredients of natural origin to nourish the skin, and Basic (98.8% natural) uses Chamomile Water and inulin for soothing care without synthetic chemicals.

Yes. All of them are dermatologically tested. Nature helps prevent irritation through its simplicity (with only 1% gentle ingredients), Sensitive has a physiological pH and oat and soy extracts for sensitive skin, and Basic is enriched with refreshing agents for frequent use.

Yes. All production, from wipes to diapers and other products, is powered by renewable energy. The brand uses its own solar panels to ensure sustainable manufacturing and a reduced environmental impact across its entire range.
